Hello and welcome to TheParentings!
I am Chak Riya, the mom and the heart behind this blog. If you are looking for real, unpolished, and wonderful moments of everyday parenting, you are in exactly the right place.
I am a mother to two incredible kids—an energetic 8-year-old son and a fiercely curious 3-year-old daughter. Together, we are navigating the messy, beautiful reality of growing up.

By day, I am a Grade 2 primary school teacher here in Phumi Praek, Kratie Province.
I have been in the classroom since 2017, and if there is one thing nearly a decade of teaching has taught me, it is that children learn best when they are simply living, playing, and helping out in the real world.

I started TheParentings because I believe you do not need expensive gear, complicated schedules, or perfect homes to raise happy kids.
The best moments happen right in the middle of our everyday routines. Whether we are sitting together on the floor working through afternoon homework, watching my daughter proudly wash her own clothes in the backyard basin, or building forts out of empty boxes, we are learning together.

What You Will Find Here
This blog is my space to share what works for our family, with the hope that it brings a little inspiration to yours.
Here is what I write about:
- Creative Play: Screen-free crafts, drawing ideas, and ways to turn backyard items into hours of fun.
- Routines: Practical life skills, simple habits, and how to teach young kids responsibility (and have fun doing it!).
- Family Hacks: Resourceful, budget-friendly ideas to keep the kids entertained and the house running smoothly.
I am not here to offer perfect, professional advice—I am here to share the real, everyday moments of motherhood and teaching.
Grab a cup of coffee, look around, and I hope you find an idea or two to try with your own little ones.
Thank you for being here!
— Chak Riya
A Note on Expertise
While I have nearly a decade of experience in primary education, I am not a pediatrician or a child psychologist. The ideas shared here come from my professional background in the classroom and my very real, hands-on experience as a mother of two. Always consult a qualified medical professional for health or developmental concerns, and trust your own instincts when it comes to your family.
